The Grasslands, which comprise 14 percent of Alberta, offer some of our most scenic vistas. The region is a flat to gently rolling plain with a few major hill systems. Because the region has been particularly marked by the advance and retreat of the glaciers it boasts an unexpected magnificence with its moraines, glacial lakes, ridges of sand dunes, valleys and canyons. The grasslands experience the warmest and driest climate in Alberta. Native vegetation here is dominated by short to mid-height grasses. Some of the animal species in the Grassland Region are found nowhere else in Alberta and a few of these are found nowhere else in Canada.
Alberta is one of the prairie provinces and the fourth largest province in Canada. It covers about the same land area as the state of Texas. Alberta is home to over 3.7 million people most of whom live in the two largest cities, Edmonton and Calgary. Alberta's economy is one of the strongest in Canada mainly due to Alberta being the largest producer of conventional crude oil, synthetic crude, natural gas and gas products in the country. Alberta is also a top producer of wheat, oats, canola and barley. Dairy farms and cattle ranches are numerous in the flat prairie areas and southern foothills. With it's diverse landscape and topography including mountains, foothills, plains, and boreal forest, Alberta offers excellent hunting opportunities for Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer.
Our Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer Hunts are conducted on open range private land located in the Grassland Region of South Eastern Alberta.
Climate conditions can be very extreme. Hunters should be prepared with good footwear for walking. Good rain gear, jacket and pants are essential. Warm gloves and a hat or cap, heavy jacket as well as long underwear, wool pants and shirt will make enduring the cold climate much easier.
